Say, “I was inspired that a group of jinns listened, then said, `We have heard a wonderful Quran.
قُل أوحِىَ إِلَىَّ أَنَّهُ استَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الجِنِّ فَقالوا إِنّا سَمِعنا قُرءانًا عَجَبًا
qul oohiya ilaiya annna hustama’a nafarum minal jinni faqaalooo innaa sami’naa quraanan ajaba
” `It guides to righteousness, and we have believed in it; we will never set up any idols besides our Lord.
يَهدى إِلَى الرُّشدِ فَـٔامَنّا بِهِ وَلَن نُشرِكَ بِرَبِّنا أَحَدًا
yahdeee ilar rushdi fa aamannaa bihee wa lan nushrika bi rabbinaaa ‘ahada
” `The Most High is our only Lord. He never had a mate, nor a son.
وَأَنَّهُ تَعٰلىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنا مَا اتَّخَذَ صٰحِبَةً وَلا وَلَدًا
wa annahoo Ta’aalaa jaddu Rabbinaa mat’takhaza saahibatanw wa laa walada
” `It is the foolish among us who used to utter such nonsense about God.
وَأَنَّهُ كانَ يَقولُ سَفيهُنا عَلَى اللَّهِ شَطَطًا
wa annahoo kaana yaqoolu safeehunaa ‘al allahi shatata
” `We thought that neither the humans, nor the jinns, could possibly utter lies about God.
وَأَنّا ظَنَنّا أَن لَن تَقولَ الإِنسُ وَالجِنُّ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا
wa annaa zanannaaa al lan taqoolal insu wal jinnu ‘al allahi kaziba
” `Human beings used to seek power through jinn beings, but they only afflicted them with a lot of adversity.
وَأَنَّهُ كانَ رِجالٌ مِنَ الإِنسِ يَعوذونَ بِرِجالٍ مِنَ الجِنِّ فَزادوهُم رَهَقًا
wa annahoo kaana rijaalun minal insi ya’oozoona bi rijaalin minal jinni fa zaadoohum rahaqa
” `They thought, just like you thought, that God would not send another (messenger).
وَأَنَّهُم ظَنّوا كَما ظَنَنتُم أَن لَن يَبعَثَ اللَّهُ أَحَدًا
wa annahum zannoo kamaa zanantum al lany yab’asal laahu ‘ahada
” `We touched the heaven and found it filled with formidable guards and projectiles.
وَأَنّا لَمَسنَا السَّماءَ فَوَجَدنٰها مُلِئَت حَرَسًا شَديدًا وَشُهُبًا
wa annaa lamasnas samaaa’a fa wajadnaahaa muli’at harasan shadeedanw wa shuhuba
” `We used to sit there in order to spy. Anyone who listens is pursued by a powerful projectile.
وَأَنّا كُنّا نَقعُدُ مِنها مَقٰعِدَ لِلسَّمعِ فَمَن يَستَمِعِ الـٔانَ يَجِد لَهُ شِهابًا رَصَدًا
wa annaa kunnaa naq’udu minhaa maqaa’ida lis’sam’i famany yastami’il ‘aana yajid lahoo shihaabar rasada
” `We have no idea if something bad is intended for the inhabitants of Earth, or if their Lord wills to redeem them.
وَأَنّا لا نَدرى أَشَرٌّ أُريدَ بِمَن فِى الأَرضِ أَم أَرادَ بِهِم رَبُّهُم رَشَدًا
wa annaa laa nadreee asharrun ureeda biman fil ardi ‘am ‘araada bihim rabbuhum rashada
