Quran chapter: Chapter 79: The Snatchers (Al-Naaze`aat)

The (angels who) snatch (the souls of the disbelievers) forcibly.

وَالنّٰزِعٰتِ غَرقًا

wan naazi ‘aati gharqa

And those who gently take (the souls of the believers) joyfully.

وَالنّٰشِطٰتِ نَشطًا

wan naa shi taati nashta

And those floating everywhere.

وَالسّٰبِحٰتِ سَبحًا

wass saabi-haati sabha

Eagerly racing with one another –

فَالسّٰبِقٰتِ سَبقًا

fass saabi qaati sabqa

to carry out various commands.

فَالمُدَبِّرٰتِ أَمرًا

fal mu dab-bi raati amra

The day the quake quakes.

يَومَ تَرجُفُ الرّاجِفَةُ

yawma tarjufur raajifa

Followed by the second blow.

تَتبَعُهَا الرّادِفَةُ

tatba’u har raadifa

Certain minds will be terrified.

قُلوبٌ يَومَئِذٍ واجِفَةٌ

quloobuny-yau maaiziw-waaji-fa

Their eyes will be subdued.

أَبصٰرُها خٰشِعَةٌ

absaa ruhaa khashi’ah

They will say, “We have been recreated from the grave!

يَقولونَ أَءِنّا لَمَردودونَ فِى الحافِرَةِ

ya qoo loona a-inna lamar doo doona fil haafirah
