About Ahmad Wehbe
Hello, welcome to my website!
On this website I showcase my works to make it easier for you to find everything I've made.
Who am I?
My name is Ahmad, I am a self-published solo game developer from Sweden.
I have been making games professionally since 2018. However I have been modding games on and off since 1999, and before that I made coloring books, card games and board games for my siblings.
Why video games?
I think video games is the perfect medium for creatives to bring their imagination to life in such a way that allows other people to experience that imagination as close to its truest form possible.
But video games can also be silly, games can be played to relax, games can become something that improves your skills or even teach you a new skill!
Video games can be art, but also less than art or more than art. Nobody has the right to define what games should be, because video games is for everyone! This means games can be whatever we want them to be.
This is why I think video games are great and why I choose this medium to express my creativity!
What do I do?
I'm an author who paints, writes novels and develops video-games. My goal is to create characters, worlds and experiences that inspires, fascinates and leads people towards growth.
I love creating video games and I prefer to self-publish them to retain full control over the direction and quality of the final game.
I do everything myself, the art, the coding, the music, the sound effects, this website, the "marketing", it is a lot of work but I enjoy the process.
However, I admit I'm not the best at making music or sound effects, I have a lot of respect for composers and sound designers!
I'm also not that great at animation, but I think it is a skill I am slowly getting better at every time I animate something.
But composing music and sound design is definitely something that will take me many years to master! But that won't stop me from doing it myself anyways!
My philosophy is to create experiences
I love art that leaves you speechless, or the immersion of a video game that tests you physically and mentally, or how a novel can leave you with words of wisdom that lifts you up in your own life’s journey. That's why entertainment for the sake of entertainment has no value to me, hopefully there are a lot of people out there who feel the same. I believe entertainment should have a purpose, such as to create life-long memories, inspire, or make us think, whether the medium is a novel, film or a video game. It might not always be an easy goal to achieve, but at least it is something to aim for and use as a guide when judging the quality of the end product.
Free and independent expression
It is sad to see so many brands - that you once respected - suddenly follow trends, or become political tools and echo-chambers for harmful ideologies. But there is always light after darkness, and the bright side, as I see it - is that there is now a vacuum in the entertainment industry waiting to be filled by indie creatives. With that said, my mission is to walk my own path and create worlds that hopefully will be enjoyed and loved by many.
Hardware
I use a PC as my workstation that I built myself. It is equipped with a Ryzen7 2700x and two RX 580 cards. It is not the best hardware out there but it gets the job done. I use four monitors, each for a different purpose to speed up my workflow.
Software
I use mostly free or open-source software:
- Obsidian - Amazing modular writing app
- Blender3D - Open source 3D creation suite
- Redot Game Engine - Open source game engine
- Audacity - Free open source audio editing software
- LMMS - Free music creation software (DAW)
- Krita - Free open source painting program
- OBS Studio - Free and open source software for recording and streaming
- Davinci Resolve - Professional video editor
