Thus, He* completed the seven universes in two days, and set up the laws for every universe. And we adorned the lowest universe with lamps, and placed guards around it. Such is the design of the Almighty, the Omniscient.
فَقَضىٰهُنَّ سَبعَ سَمٰواتٍ فى يَومَينِ وَأَوحىٰ فى كُلِّ سَماءٍ أَمرَها وَزَيَّنَّا السَّماءَ الدُّنيا بِمَصٰبيحَ وَحِفظًا ذٰلِكَ تَقديرُ العَزيزِ العَليمِ
faqadaahunna sab’a samaawaatin fee yawmaini wa awhaa fee kulli samaaa’in amarahaa; wa zaiyannassa maaa’ad dunyaa bimasaabeeha wa hifzaa; zaalika taqdeerul ‘Azeezil ‘Aleem
*41:12 God alone created the universe (18:51), but the angels participated in handling certain jobs in the lowest universe. Our universe cannot stand the physical presence of God (7:143). The plural tense acknowledges the angels’ role in our universe (Appendix 10).
