But he disbelieved and rebelled.
fa kazzaba wa asaa
He said, “I am your Lord; most high.”
faqala ana rabbu kumul-a’laa
Consequently, God committed him to the retribution in the Hereafter, as well as in the first life.
fa-akha zahul laahu nakalal aakhirati wal-oola
This is a lesson for the reverent.
inna fee zaalika la’ibratal limaiy-yaksha
Are you more difficult to create than the heaven? He constructed it.
a-antum a shaddu khalqan amis samaa-u banaaha
He raised its masses, and perfected it.
raf’a sam kaha fasaw waaha
He made its night dark, and brightened its morn.
wa aghtasha lailaha wa akhraja duhaaha
He made the earth egg-shaped.*
wal arda b’ada zaalika dahhaahaa
*79:30 The Arabic word “dahhaahaa” is derived from “Dahhyah” which means “egg.”
