Quran chapter: Chapter 35: Initiator (Faater)

Praise be to God, Initiator of the heavens and the earth, and appointer of the angels to be messengers with wings – two, three, and four (wings). He increases the creation as He wills. God is Omnipotent.

الحَمدُ لِلَّهِ فاطِرِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ جاعِلِ المَلٰئِكَةِ رُسُلًا أُولى أَجنِحَةٍ مَثنىٰ وَثُلٰثَ وَرُبٰعَ يَزيدُ فِى الخَلقِ ما يَشاءُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلىٰ كُلِّ شَىءٍ قَديرٌ

alhamdu lillaahi faatiris samaawaati wal ardi jaa’ilil malaaa’ikati rusulan uleee ajnihatim masnaa wa sulaasa wa rubaa’; yazeedu fil khalqi maa yashaaa’; innal laaha ‘alaa kulli shai’in Qadeer

When God showers the people with mercy, no force can stop it. And if He withholds it, no force, other than He, can send it. He is the Almighty, Most Wise.

ما يَفتَحِ اللَّهُ لِلنّاسِ مِن رَحمَةٍ فَلا مُمسِكَ لَها وَما يُمسِك فَلا مُرسِلَ لَهُ مِن بَعدِهِ وَهُوَ العَزيزُ الحَكيمُ

maa yaftahil laahu linnaaasi mir rahmatin falaa mumsika lahaa wa maa yumsik falaa mursila lahoo mimba’dihi; wa Huwal ‘Azeezul Hakeem

O people, remember God’s blessings upon you. Is there any creator other than God who provides for you from the heaven and the earth? There is no other god beside Him. How could you deviate?

يٰأَيُّهَا النّاسُ اذكُروا نِعمَتَ اللَّهِ عَلَيكُم هَل مِن خٰلِقٍ غَيرُ اللَّهِ يَرزُقُكُم مِنَ السَّماءِ وَالأَرضِ لا إِلٰهَ إِلّا هُوَ فَأَنّىٰ تُؤفَكونَ

yaaa ayyuhan naasuzkuroo ni’matal laahi ‘alaikum; hal min khaaliqin ghairul laahi yarzuqukum minas samaaa’i wal ard; laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa fa annaa tu’fakoon

If they disbelieve you, messengers before you have been disbelieved. God is in control of all things.

وَإِن يُكَذِّبوكَ فَقَد كُذِّبَت رُسُلٌ مِن قَبلِكَ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ تُرجَعُ الأُمورُ

wa iny yukazzibooka faqad kuzzibat Rusulum min qablik; wa ilal laahi turja’ul umoor

O people, God’s promise is the truth; therefore, do not be distracted by this lowly life. Do not be diverted from God by mere illusions.

يٰأَيُّهَا النّاسُ إِنَّ وَعدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَلا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الحَيوٰةُ الدُّنيا وَلا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِاللَّهِ الغَرورُ

yaaa ayyuhan naasu inna wa’dal laahi haqqun falaa taghurrannakumul hayaatud dunyaa; wa laa yaghurran nakum billaahil gharoor

The devil is your enemy, so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be the dwellers of Hell.

إِنَّ الشَّيطٰنَ لَكُم عَدُوٌّ فَاتَّخِذوهُ عَدُوًّا إِنَّما يَدعوا حِزبَهُ لِيَكونوا مِن أَصحٰبِ السَّعيرِ

innash shaitaana lakum ‘aduwwun fattakhizoohu ‘aduwwaa; innamaa yad’oo hizbahoo liyakoonoo min ashaabis sa’eer

Those who disbelieve have incurred a severe retribution, and those who believe and lead a righteous life have deserved forgiveness and a great recompense.

الَّذينَ كَفَروا لَهُم عَذابٌ شَديدٌ وَالَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُم مَغفِرَةٌ وَأَجرٌ كَبيرٌ

allazeena kafaroo lahum ‘azaabun shadeed; wallazeena aamanoo wa ‘amilus saalihaati lahum maghfiratunw wa ajrun kabeer

Note the one whose evil work is adorned in his eyes, until he thinks that it is righteous. God thus sends astray whoever wills (to go astray), and He guides whoever wills (to be guided). Therefore, do not grieve over them. God is fully aware of everything they do.

أَفَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُ سوءُ عَمَلِهِ فَرَءاهُ حَسَنًا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَن يَشاءُ وَيَهدى مَن يَشاءُ فَلا تَذهَب نَفسُكَ عَلَيهِم حَسَرٰتٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَليمٌ بِما يَصنَعونَ

afaman zuyyina lahoo sooo’u ‘amalihee fara aahu hasanaa; fa innal laaha yudillu mai yashaaa’u wa yahdee mai yashaaa’u falaa tazhab nafsuka ‘alaihim hasaraat; innal laaha ‘aleemun bimaa yasna’oon

God is the One who sends the winds to stir up clouds, then we drive them towards barren lands, and revive such lands after they were dead. Thus is the resurrection.

وَاللَّهُ الَّذى أَرسَلَ الرِّيٰحَ فَتُثيرُ سَحابًا فَسُقنٰهُ إِلىٰ بَلَدٍ مَيِّتٍ فَأَحيَينا بِهِ الأَرضَ بَعدَ مَوتِها كَذٰلِكَ النُّشورُ

wallaahul lazeee arsalar riyaaha fatuseeru sa haaban fasuqnaahu ilaa baladim maiyitin fa ahyaynaa bihil arda ba’da mawtihaa; kazaalikan nushoor

(All Dignity Belongs With God)

Anyone seeking dignity should know that to God belongs all dignity. To Him ascends the good words, and He exalts the righteous works. As for those who scheme evil works, they incur severe retribution; the scheming of such people is destined to fail.

مَن كانَ يُريدُ العِزَّةَ فَلِلَّهِ العِزَّةُ جَميعًا إِلَيهِ يَصعَدُ الكَلِمُ الطَّيِّبُ وَالعَمَلُ الصّٰلِحُ يَرفَعُهُ وَالَّذينَ يَمكُرونَ السَّيِّـٔاتِ لَهُم عَذابٌ شَديدٌ وَمَكرُ أُولٰئِكَ هُوَ يَبورُ

man kaana yureedul ‘izzata falillaahil ‘izzatu jamee’aa; ilaihi yas’adul kalimut taiyibu wal’amalus saalihu yarfa’uh; wallazeena yamkuroonas sayyiaati lahum ‘azaabun shadeed; wa makru ulaaa’ika huwa yaboor
