Quran chapter: Chapter 30: The Romans (Al-Room)

Among His proofs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves, in order to have tranquility and contentment with each other, and He placed in your hearts love and care towards your spouses. In this, there are sufficient proofs for people who think.

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ أَن خَلَقَ لَكُم مِن أَنفُسِكُم أَزوٰجًا لِتَسكُنوا إِلَيها وَجَعَلَ بَينَكُم مَوَدَّةً وَرَحمَةً إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِقَومٍ يَتَفَكَّرونَ

wa min Aayaatiheee an khalaqa lakum min anfusikum azwaajal litaskunooo ilaihaa wa ja’ala bainakum mawad datanw wa rahmah; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy yatafakkaroon

(More Proofs)

Among His proofs are the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colors. In these, there are signs for the knowledgeable.

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ خَلقُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَاختِلٰفُ أَلسِنَتِكُم وَأَلوٰنِكُم إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِلعٰلِمينَ

wa min Aayaatihee khalqus samaawaati wal aardi wakhtilaafu alsinatikum wa alwaanikum; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil lil’aalimeen

Among His proofs is your sleeping during the night or the day, and your working in pursuit of His provisions. In this, there are sufficient proofs for people who can hear.

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ مَنامُكُم بِالَّيلِ وَالنَّهارِ وَابتِغاؤُكُم مِن فَضلِهِ إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِقَومٍ يَسمَعونَ

wa min Aayaatihee manaamukum bil laili wannahaari wabtighaaa’ukum min fadlih; inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy yasma’oon

Among His proofs is that He shows you the lightning as a source of fear, as well as hope, then He sends down from the sky water to revive a land that has been dead. In these, there are sufficient proofs for people who understand.

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ يُريكُمُ البَرقَ خَوفًا وَطَمَعًا وَيُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّماءِ ماءً فَيُحى ۦ بِهِ الأَرضَ بَعدَ مَوتِها إِنَّ فى ذٰلِكَ لَـٔايٰتٍ لِقَومٍ يَعقِلونَ

wa min Aayaatihee yureekumul barqa khawfanw wa tama’anw wa yunazzilu minas samaaa’i maaa’an fa yuhyee bihil arda ba’da mawtihaaa inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil liqawminy ya’qiloon

Among His proofs is that the heaven and the earth are standing at His disposal. Finally, when He calls you out of the earth, one call, you will immediately come out.

وَمِن ءايٰتِهِ أَن تَقومَ السَّماءُ وَالأَرضُ بِأَمرِهِ ثُمَّ إِذا دَعاكُم دَعوَةً مِنَ الأَرضِ إِذا أَنتُم تَخرُجونَ

wa min Aayaatihee an taqoomas samaaa’u wal ardu bi-amrih; summa izaa da’aakum da’watam minal ardi izaaa antum takhrujoon

To Him belongs everyone in the heavens and the earth; all are subservient to Him.

وَلَهُ مَن فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ كُلٌّ لَهُ قٰنِتونَ

wa lahoo man fissamaawaati wal ardi kullul lahoo qaanitoon

And He is the One who initiates the creation, then repeats it; this is even easier for Him. To Him belongs the most sublime similitude, in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Almighty, Most Wise.

وَهُوَ الَّذى يَبدَؤُا۟ الخَلقَ ثُمَّ يُعيدُهُ وَهُوَ أَهوَنُ عَلَيهِ وَلَهُ المَثَلُ الأَعلىٰ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ وَهُوَ العَزيزُ الحَكيمُ

wa Huwal lazee yabda’ul khalqa summa yu’eeduhoo wa huwa ahwanu ‘alaih; wa lahul masalul a’laa fissamaawaati wal-ard; wa Huwal ‘Azeezul Hakeem

(Absurdity of Idol Worship)

He cites for you herein an example from among yourselves: Do you ever elevate your servants or subordinates to the level where they rival you, and to the point that you pay them as much allegiance as is being paid to you? We thus explain the revelations for people who understand.

ضَرَبَ لَكُم مَثَلًا مِن أَنفُسِكُم هَل لَكُم مِن ما مَلَكَت أَيمٰنُكُم مِن شُرَكاءَ فى ما رَزَقنٰكُم فَأَنتُم فيهِ سَواءٌ تَخافونَهُم كَخيفَتِكُم أَنفُسَكُم كَذٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الـٔايٰتِ لِقَومٍ يَعقِلونَ

daraba lakum masalam min anfusikum hal lakum mimmaa malakat aymaanukum min shurakaaa’a fee maa razaqnaakum fa antum feehi sawaaa’un takhaafoonahum kakheefa tikum anfusakum; kazaalika nufassilul Aayaati liqawminy ya’qiloon

Indeed, the transgressors have followed their own opinions, without knowledge. Who then can guide those who have been sent astray by God? No one can ever help them.

بَلِ اتَّبَعَ الَّذينَ ظَلَموا أَهواءَهُم بِغَيرِ عِلمٍ فَمَن يَهدى مَن أَضَلَّ اللَّهُ وَما لَهُم مِن نٰصِرينَ

balit taba’al lazeena zalamooo ahwaaa’ahum bighairi ‘ilmin famai yahdee man adallal laahu wa maa lahum min naasireen

(Monotheism: Natural Instinct*)

Therefore, you shall devote yourself to the religion of strict monotheism. Such is the natural instinct placed into the people by God. Such creation of God will never change. This is the perfect religion, but most people do not know.

فَأَقِم وَجهَكَ لِلدّينِ حَنيفًا فِطرَتَ اللَّهِ الَّتى فَطَرَ النّاسَ عَلَيها لا تَبديلَ لِخَلقِ اللَّهِ ذٰلِكَ الدّينُ القَيِّمُ وَلٰكِنَّ أَكثَرَ النّاسِ لا يَعلَمونَ

fa aqim wajhaka liddeeni Haneefaa; fitratal laahil latee fataran naasa ‘alaihaa; laa taabdeela likhalqil laah; zaalikad deenul qaiyimu wa laakinna aksaran naasi laa ya’lamoon

*30:30 Recognizing God ALONE as our Lord and Master is a natural instinct. We are born into this world with such an instinct. See 7:172-173 and Appendix 7.
