And do not covet what we bestowed upon any other people. Such are temporary ornaments of this life, whereby we put them to the test. What your Lord provides for you is far better, and everlasting.
وَلا تَمُدَّنَّ عَينَيكَ إِلىٰ ما مَتَّعنا بِهِ أَزوٰجًا مِنهُم زَهرَةَ الحَيوٰةِ الدُّنيا لِنَفتِنَهُم فيهِ وَرِزقُ رَبِّكَ خَيرٌ وَأَبقىٰ
wa laa tamuddanna ‘ainaika ilaa ma matta’na biheee azwajam minhum zahratal hayaatid dunya linaftinahum feeh; wa rizqu Rabbika khairunw wa abqaa
(The Parents’ Responsibility)
You shall enjoin your family to observe the contact prayers (Salat), and steadfastly persevere in doing so. We do not ask you for any provisions; we are the ones who provide for you. The ultimate triumph belongs to the righteous.
وَأمُر أَهلَكَ بِالصَّلوٰةِ وَاصطَبِر عَلَيها لا نَسـَٔلُكَ رِزقًا نَحنُ نَرزُقُكَ وَالعٰقِبَةُ لِلتَّقوىٰ
wa’mur ahlaka bis Salaati wastabir ‘alaihaa laa nas’aluka rizqaa; nahnu narzuquk; wal ‘aaqibatu littaqwaa
(Why Messengers?)
They said, “If he could only show us a miracle from his Lord!” Did they not receive sufficient miracles with the previous messages?
وَقالوا لَولا يَأتينا بِـٔايَةٍ مِن رَبِّهِ أَوَلَم تَأتِهِم بَيِّنَةُ ما فِى الصُّحُفِ الأولىٰ
wa qaaloo law laa ya’teenaa bi aayatin mir Rabbih; awa lam ta’tihim baiyinatu maa fis suhufil oolaa
Had we annihilated them before this, they would have said, “Our Lord, had You sent a messenger to us, we would have followed Your revelations, and would have avoided this shame and humiliation.”
وَلَو أَنّا أَهلَكنٰهُم بِعَذابٍ مِن قَبلِهِ لَقالوا رَبَّنا لَولا أَرسَلتَ إِلَينا رَسولًا فَنَتَّبِعَ ءايٰتِكَ مِن قَبلِ أَن نَذِلَّ وَنَخزىٰ
wa law annaaa ahlaknaahum bi ‘azaabin min qablihee laqaaloo Rabbanaa law laaa arsalta ilainaa Rasoolan fanattabi’a Aayaatika min qabli an nazilla wa nakhzaa
Say, “All of us are waiting, so wait; you will surely find out who are on the correct path, and who are truly guided.”
قُل كُلٌّ مُتَرَبِّصٌ فَتَرَبَّصوا فَسَتَعلَمونَ مَن أَصحٰبُ الصِّرٰطِ السَّوِىِّ وَمَنِ اهتَدىٰ
qul kullum mutarabbisun fa tarabbasoo fa sa ta’lamoona man Ashaabus Siraatis Sawiyyi wa manih tadaa
