He came out to his family, from the sanctuary, and signaled to them: “Meditate (on God) day and night.”
فَخَرَجَ عَلىٰ قَومِهِ مِنَ المِحرابِ فَأَوحىٰ إِلَيهِم أَن سَبِّحوا بُكرَةً وَعَشِيًّا
fakharaja ‘alaa qawmihee minal mihraabi fa-awhaaa ilaihim an sabbihoo bukratanw wa ‘ashiyyaa
“O John, you shall uphold the scripture, strongly.” We endowed him with wisdom, even in his youth.
يٰيَحيىٰ خُذِ الكِتٰبَ بِقُوَّةٍ وَءاتَينٰهُ الحُكمَ صَبِيًّا
yaa Yahyaa khuzil Kitaaba biquwwatinw wa aatainaahul hukma sabiyyaa
And (we endowed him with) kindness from us and purity, for he was righteous.
وَحَنانًا مِن لَدُنّا وَزَكوٰةً وَكانَ تَقِيًّا
wa hanaanam mil ladunnaa wa zakaatanw wa kaana taqiyyaa
He honored his parents, and was never a disobedient tyrant.
وَبَرًّا بِوٰلِدَيهِ وَلَم يَكُن جَبّارًا عَصِيًّا
wa barram biwaalidayhi wa lam yakum jabbaaran ‘asiyyaa
Peace be upon him the day he was born, the day he dies, and the day he is resurrected back to life.
وَسَلٰمٌ عَلَيهِ يَومَ وُلِدَ وَيَومَ يَموتُ وَيَومَ يُبعَثُ حَيًّا
wa salaamun ‘alaihi yawma wulida wa yawma yamootu wa yawma yub’asu haiyyaa
(Mary)
Mention in the scripture Mary. She isolated herself from her family, into an eastern location.
وَاذكُر فِى الكِتٰبِ مَريَمَ إِذِ انتَبَذَت مِن أَهلِها مَكانًا شَرقِيًّا
wazkur fil Kitaabi Maryama; izin tabazat min ahlihaa makaanan sharqiyyaa
While a barrier separated her from them, we sent to her our Spirit. He went to her in the form of a human being.
فَاتَّخَذَت مِن دونِهِم حِجابًا فَأَرسَلنا إِلَيها روحَنا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَها بَشَرًا سَوِيًّا
fattakhazat min doonihim hijaaban fa arsalnaaa ilaihaa roohanaa fatamassala lahaa basharan sawiyyaa
She said, “I seek refuge in the Most Gracious, that you may be righteous.”
قالَت إِنّى أَعوذُ بِالرَّحمٰنِ مِنكَ إِن كُنتَ تَقِيًّا
qaalat inneee a’oozu bir Rahmaani minka in kunta taqiyyaa
He said, “I am the messenger of your Lord, to grant you a pure son.”
قالَ إِنَّما أَنا۠ رَسولُ رَبِّكِ لِأَهَبَ لَكِ غُلٰمًا زَكِيًّا
qaala innamaa ana rasoolu Rabbiki li ahaba laki ghulaaman zakiyyaa
She said, “How can I have a son, when no man has touched me; I have never been unchaste.”
قالَت أَنّىٰ يَكونُ لى غُلٰمٌ وَلَم يَمسَسنى بَشَرٌ وَلَم أَكُ بَغِيًّا
qaalat anna yakoonu lee ghulaamunw wa lam yamsasnee bashrunw wa lam aku baghiyyaa
