Quran chapter: Chapter 107: Charity (Al-Maa`oon)

Do you know who really rejects the faith?

أَرَءَيتَ الَّذى يُكَذِّبُ بِالدّينِ

ara ‘aytal lazee yukazzibu biddeen

That is the one who mistreats the orphans.

فَذٰلِكَ الَّذى يَدُعُّ اليَتيمَ

fazaalikal lazee yadu’ul-yateem

And does not advocate the feeding of the poor.

وَلا يَحُضُّ عَلىٰ طَعامِ المِسكينِ

wa la yahuddu ‘alaa ta’aamil miskeen

And woe to those who observe the contact prayers (Salat) –

فَوَيلٌ لِلمُصَلّينَ

fa wailul-lil musalleen

who are totally heedless of their prayers.

الَّذينَ هُم عَن صَلاتِهِم ساهونَ

allazeena hum ‘an salaatihim saahoon

They only show off.

الَّذينَ هُم يُراءونَ

allazeena hum yuraaa’oon

And they forbid charity.

وَيَمنَعونَ الماعونَ

wa yamna’oonal maa’oon
